Hurricane Peaches

Sheldon's sister Monica brought us two bushel of Peaches to can, straight from Hurricane. She lives about 25 minutes south of us. When she got home, we drove down to get them right away, so I could get canning. When we got home Marshal was whining because he was tired, and Luke was screaming because that's what he used to do whenever he wasn't being held, but we found ourselves both huvvered over the kitchen sink eating juicy, delicious peaches and ignoring the kids. After I guzzled two, I turned around to see sheldon pouring this giant bowl of cereal to top with peaches. There's something in those peaches that makes a person lose all self control, and act like kids again. The next day I bottled 56 jars, then I bottled 1/2 a bushel of tomatoes. Last week we were given a few more peaches, so I jarred some jam. I did this all by myself, and it was my first try. I tried to solicite help from my sister who said: "I used to think I wanted to do stuff like that.." I figured out why, it is messy and time consuming, if I lived in California, I probably wouldn't bottle the goodness that I can practically get all year anyway, but I live in SLC, Utah, and these bottled peaches are WAY better than anything canned you get at the store. ( and practically free!)
