This is my nephew Ari. He lives in Boise, and believe it or not, he was in Boise, not Scotland, for this photo shoot. He is learning to play the bagpipes and is such a stud for wearing this kilt to bring back his Scottish roots! ( it was not easy for him, but I was told he got into after the first few pictures. My mom thinks he looks just like a little Scotsman, I think he's cute!) Can't wait to hear him on those bagpipes!A little side note....My maiden name is McDonald. My father's family comes from Scotland. a few years ago my sister Amelia was in Scotland and got off a train where everyone in the village looked just like her: black hair, freckles, a tiny chin....she had always wondered why she had so many freckles with her black hair, and she found out why! My husband's grandmother's maiden name is Wallace, and they are also from Scotland, related directly to William Wallace. He has cousins who take great pride in this and wear their kilts on special occasions. Any way, I tell you this to tell you that we really enjoy learning of our heritage. In fact, just Saturday I was reading in my great-great-great grandfather's journal. In his journal I found his thoughts to be so similar to mine, and my uncles, my mom's, it is so fascinating, I only wish we had more!

That is the coolest picture! I love that black hair/freckle combo. When do we get to hear Ari play the bagpipes?

By the way, where do you live? We're in Provo, just like the Tams. Are you near?
I love all things Scottish! Some of my ancestors are also from Scotland. And we have a bagpipe playing neighbor who we discovered on accident one day (and yep, I had to blog about it...
