Sam and Marshal were totally engaged in watching the entire Rodeo. They especially liked the calf roping. When the cowboys were bull riding ( so dangerous) Sam kept asking me why they didn't just lasso the Bulls, like they do the calves. I don't even know why they ride the bulls, Sam.
Our Friend Lois and her husband started the Days of '47 celebration and Rodeo years and years ago. She hooked us up with tickets for Friday night, on Row 5 of the VIP section, and in case you didn't notice, that little old lady sort of next to and behind the camera man in the black shirt, is sister Monson...I just couldn't get my self to take a picture of President Monson with out feeling like a crazy "fan"....there were plenty of people who did, though...during intermission of course. It was pretty neat for us and the boys to see the prophet 8 feet away from us, all night long. He really seemed to like the monkey "whip lash" who rides the sheep dog and rounds up the goats. It was pretty fascinating. After the Rodeo, President Monson and his family were one of the firsts to leave. My nephew Sam climed through the rail before we realized it and snatched some cookies from under the prophet's chair. Way to go Sam! he ate the prophets cookies, and that's a pretty cool memory to have!
Luke was stoked the entire time, never fussing at all, though the Rodeo went pretty late for the little tykes.
He held the cake and ate it like this, until it fell to his side, then he would say "uh-oh" and snag a piece and pull it up, over and over. We are loving this stage with Luke!
a snipit of "happy Birthday"
Sheldon and I were talking about how Luke doesn't dance to music, no matter how hard we tried to help him, the night before I went with my friend Clare to "story time in the park" in Woods Cross. The theme of the stories was music, and at the very end a live highschool brass band played two songs; the Sesame Street theme song, and Paul Simon's "Call me Al" it wasn't until the latter that he began to jam. So for his birthday, we downloaded 'Graceland' from itunes and enjoyed a family birthday dance party all morning.
